GPS Glasproduktions-Service GmbH was founded on real-world experience. It has been and continues to be practice-oriented.
1923: Founded as the service department of Ruhrglas AG in Essen. Responsible for the maintenance and optimisation of IS machines and corresponding components.
1984: GPS established as a separate business division developing mechanisms for IS machines and with responsibility for designing and manufacturing machines.
1988: Ruhrglas AG taken over by Oberland Glas AG, known today as Saint-Gobain Oberland AG.
1992: GPS setup as a subsidiary company of Saint-Gobain Oberland AG.
Manufacture of IS machines modernised.
Development of 3D CAD modelling integrated into the development process.
More than 400 IS machines installed worldwide.
1996: GPS certified with DIN EN ISO 9001.
2004: Introduction of servo technology – developed and implemented into components.
2006: Cooperation with GPS Glasproduktions-Service GmbH America in Marion, Indianapolis, USA. Development of triple gob application.
2010: GPS AMC+ Control System presented at glasstec.
2016: GPS becomes independent and introduce its new developments (Mechanical and Software) at Glasstec.
Rolf Themann, through management buyout, takes over with sole responsibility to bring GPS into the future.
